Lord Elgin grew up surrounded by what his ancestors had collected abroad. The Canadian collection interested him the most. He recently made it possible for Canada to acquire the Elgin collection of Canadian artifacts, now housed with Library and Archives Canada and with the Canadian Museum of Civilization.
